"Women as Peaceful Voters and as Candidates"
In the period from September 2016 to September 2017, PPAW Mutakalim implemented the Project "Women as Peaceful Voters and as Candidates" with the financial support of the National Endowment for Democracy (NED).
The main idea of our Project is to advance the political participation of women in the south of Kyrgyzstan. Promotion of participation in public life of ethnic minorities and other groups. The goal of the Project is training and activation of women-leaders in the target areas, who will involve the remaining passive parts of their community in the election process, and may participate in the elections as candidates.
The Project provided constant consultations to local actors, facilitated group processes within communities, involving women in active community work, involving in the project activities of the majority of believing women who often stay out of many social events.
Within the framework of the Project, information sessions were held for local governments, community leaders, religious leaders of the region and law enforcement agencies.
The Bus of Solidarity was one of the highlights of the project, in which women from the three southern regions were able to exchange experiences, establish contacts and outline the prospects for cooperation.
